While the main floor of this home had received some attention in a recent renovation, the basement of this mid-century home was in need of an update and refresh. The owners were also interested in using an existing basement entry to create an accessory dwelling within the home. We revised the floor plan and create an additional basement powder room, allowing the existing bathroom to be dedicated to the accessory dwelling. We also reconsidered the utility spaces to create separate laundry and mechanical rooms. Working closely with the owners, we developed a material palette that was cozy and inviting while still maintaining a feeling of luxury.
