This new residence above Bear Lake fronts its roadway with a low, linear profile. Low sloping roofs simplify the home’s geometries by capping the home with two continuous planes: one above the entrances and a second over a row of clerestory windows. These unassuming roofs, along with a natural material palette of stone and wood cladding, create a modest and low-lying residence within the community.
On the rear elevation, the upper roof gradually builds to a dramatic cantilever, which directs views to Bear Lake and mountain peaks to the East. Below this cantilever are expansive deck and patio spaces which expand the interior living spaces into large indoor-outdoor entertainment areas. The configuration of spaces internally capitalizes on these views by placing the living spaces and bedrooms along the rear elevation, serving to draw out the occupants to enjoy the yard.
