A renovation to a 1950s rambler in the Holladay area of Salt Lake City, the main floor is reorganized to improve circulation and create space for the owners to entertain and gather as a family. By enclosing an existing patio, the kitchen is expanded to create a much larger space, with room for casual dining and a new family room. Circulation is dramatically improved on the main floor by creating a new passage between the existing living room and the kitchen, allowing the owners to access the previously isolated space. Finally, by enclosing the existing patio, the master suite is enlarged to include a large walk-in closet and a new bathroom, complete with separate tub, shower and toilet room.
